(Centropomus undecimalis) – also known as Linesider or Common Snook – regardless of the name, catching Snook is always an exhilarating experience! Snook fishing in Boca Grande is an exciting and enjoyable activity suitable for anglers of all skill levels. Here in Southwest Florida and Boca Grande, we have the opportunity to catch Snook throughout the year. They range in size from 12 inches all the way up to a massive 40-plus inches, with the average size being around 24 inches, weighing 3-5 pounds. Their initial strike is explosive and is often followed by acrobatic jumps and powerful runs as they attempt to free themselves or snap your line.

Similar to largemouth bass, Snook are fond of lurking around structures, waiting to ambush passing baits. These structures also provide refuge from predators like sharks and dolphins, while the tides bring their food directly to them, conserving their energy. Although Snook can be selective feeders at times, they are known to consume a wide variety of live baits, including sardines, threadfin herring, shrimp, pinfish, mullet, grunts, and ladyfish.
