Want To Go Inshore / Flats Fishing?

Boca Grande tarpon fishing is renowned as some of the finest in the world, earning Boca Grande the title “The Tarpon Capital of the World.” With such a reputation, it’s clear that tarpon fishing here is exceptional

So, what makes tarpon fishing so outstanding in Boca Grande? Each year, tens of thousands of hungry tarpon migrate to Boca Grande Pass and the surrounding areas for their annual spawn. They typically arrive in early April, famished after a long journey and eager to feed. Over several weeks, they gather in massive schools, sometimes comprising over 500 fish, as they prepare for spawning. This provides anglers with abundant opportunities to catch tarpon. Once the spawn concludes in early July, many tarpon remain in the area, feasting on the plentiful food in Charlotte Harbor. This means that fantastic tarpon fishing action continues through October, giving anglers a chance to battle the “Silver King” for over half the year!

The inshore waters, also known as “back bay,” “backwater,” and “Flats,” of Charlotte Harbor, Boca Grande, and Pine Island Sound offer endless saltwater grass flats and undeveloped mangrove-lined shorelines. These areas are dotted with creeks, oyster bars, and rivers that make up this pristine estuary. Charlotte Harbor is one of the country’s largest estuaries and home to some of the most sought-after game fish. Shallow water fishing enthusiasts have flocked to its shallow flats for decades in search of Snook, Redfish, Trout, Tarpon, and many other species that thrive in this unique and fertile ecosystem. With today’s conservation initiatives, the fishing has never been better.
